The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Vlora Dumoshi, together with a part of the MCYS staff, visited today the Municipality of Gjakova, to see the investments that MCYS is making in this Municipality.

On this occasion, Minister Dumoshi was received in the Municipality by Mayor Ardian Gjini, where they signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at financial support for the project "Construction of tennis complex in the Municipality of Gjakova", in the amount of 250 thousand euros and to be implemented this year.

During the meeting, Minister Dumoshi and Mayor Gjini talked about the joint projects of the MCYS and the Municipality of Gjakova, in the field of heritage and youth, as well as capital investments in sports.

During the visit, Minister Vlora Dumoshi, accompanied by the Mayor of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini took part in laying the foundation stone for the construction of the city stadium in Gjakova, for which the ministry has allocated funds in the amount of 1.1 million euros for the first phase of project implementation.

The Minister of Dumoshi estimated that Gjakova has a tradition in the sport of football for almost a century and that this investment, specifically, laying the foundation stone of the stadium shows gratitude to all generations and their contribution to sports, in this case football.

"We as the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports are investing 1 million and 100 thousand euros, but also with a review next year, we will look for funds to implement this project as it is much needed for the municipality of Gjakova, for all people, for generations ", said among other things the minister, appreciating the citizens and the fans who have supported the football club and the sport in general.

While Mayor Gjini said that despite the delays and misunderstandings of the past, Minister Dumoshi has fully understood the project in question and thanks to her the construction of the stadium in Gjakova is starting. "We have been fighting for two years to start the project, sometimes the funds came out, sometimes they were taken away, we carried out the project a little more ambitiously than others who have waited, but this project must survive for a long time. With Minister Dumoshi, I did not need a war, as we have operationalized it immediately", said Gjini.

On the whole, Minister Dumoshi considered that the investments of MCYS in the Municipality of Gjakova will benefit and are in the interest of the citizens of this area and she feels delighted that this is becoming possible.

Also, Minister Dumoshi spoke about the memorandum she signed with Mayor Gjini on tennis courts, where she also visited the terrain on which the fields are being built, a project in which the ministry is investing.

"The memorandum we signed today is a very good news for tennis players. I know that Gjakova has a lot of tennis players and that there are 3 clubs that compete and they are very good players who present us. This memorandum is a continuation of the project. I have seen closely the work that has been done so far and 80% of the work has been completed, but it is essential for us to start building the fields immediately and 4 of them will be built in this complex. The construction is being done according to international standards and criteria, as Kosovo's sport has already been internationalized and I hope that the works will be completed by the end of the year ", said the Minister, pledging that the support and cooperation with the Municipality of Gjakova will continue in the future.

While, Mayor Gjini said that MCYS has continued to support Gjakova with new projects and the continuation of several other projects, expressing special thanks to Minister Dumoshi, as she has pushed forward projects in Gjakova.
