It has been marked the International Day of Monuments and Sites

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has marked today the International Day of Monuments and Sites.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, said that the International Day of Monuments and Sites is being marked as part of the European Cultural Heritage Year, encouraging a lot of engagement in the protection, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage as a common value.

To mark this day, in the Archaeological Park were promoted three publications of the Archaeological Institute of Kosovo: Kosovo Archaeological Map Volume III, Archaeological Heritage of the Municipality of Istog and Archeological Heritage of the Municipality of Skenderaj.

"We are together to promote the three publications of the Archaeological Institute of Kosovo and in advance the engagement of archaeologists, professionals, municipalities that have cooperated with our institutions during the process of localization of the sites, various expeditions with the character of recognition but also the scientific. The work of the Archaeological Institute of Kosovo, in cooperation with other archaeologists of the country and internationally, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, has continually enabled the documentation of our past, heritage treasure and early civilization", said Minister Gashi.

He also said that the dedication to support the scientific work of the Archaeological Institute and the institutions and professionals will continue.

"Greater importance will be given to the engagement of new cadres in the field of archeology, whereas joint focus will be publications and presentations of results in and out of the country", said Minister Gashi.

In note of this day, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports awarded three acknowledgments to the representatives of the families who contributed in the archeological heritage field by giving the archaeological finds.

Acknowledgments were given to Mr. Faik Islami village Gllamnik - Municipality of Podujeva, Hamdi Ibishi, Orllan - Municipality of Podujeva and for the family of Mr. Prend, Nikoll and Pjeter Heqimi, village Zllakuqan - Municipality of Klina.

At the conclusion of his speech, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, thanked for the extraordinary contribution of all archaeologists, archaeological map editors, authors, and the author of two publications Mr. Haxhi Mehmetaj and the respective municipalities.
