The first activity between Kosovo and Israel takes place through sport!

11.05.2021

Today, at the invitation of the state of Israel, a chess activity is being held between the players of Kosovo and Israel. This event was organized on Jerusalem Day as a sign of friendship between the two countries. Deputy Minister Daulina Osmani, Ambassador Ines Demiri and Ambassador Dan Oryan addressed in the opening of the event.

We invite you to read the speech of the Deputy Minister below:

"On behalf of the Government of Kosova, I thank you for your invitation. We are honoured that this year’s Chess 4 Solidarity event is taking place between our two countries. Today we are celebrating Jerusalem Day together, one of the oldest cities in the world with one of the oldest games ever created.

As a Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, and as an athlete, I recognise the importance of chess both as a sport and as an art. Dating back more than a thousand years, it is one of the most captivating activities for the human mind. It requires extraordinary thinking abilities, focus and patience.

I also appreciate the symbolic meaning of today’s event because we know that sport is one of the best ways to unite two countries. Just like chess, the friendship and respect between our people has stood the test of time.

I wish all the players good luck. May the best ones win. Thank you."
