Today marks World Book Day

Today, on April 23rd, Kosovo marks the World Book Day - an international celebration of books and reading around the world which coincides with the date of death of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.

This day in Kosovo was marked by various events.

A rally in honor of this day was held at the National Library of Kosovo, attended by some of the largest book and library contributors in Kosovo. There, guests were given the opportunity to evoke memories from the past from the moments of the establishment of the National Library.

In the premises of the Hivzi Sulejmani library, ETEA organized a panel where the ministry's plans in the field of reading and publishing were discussed, including the importance of books, reading, as well as the challenges faced by publishers and libraries in Kosovo.

The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KCC) also organized a discussion to mark this important day, where the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Sejnur Veshall, was also invited. The discussion took place in Prizren in the premises of the Altera library.

The first World Book Day was celebrated on 23 April in 1995 and continues to be recognized on that day.
