The memorandum for the restoration of the Maktab Ruzhdije in Gjakova has been signed

Deputy Minister Burbuqe Bakija-Deva and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Veton Firzi, met today with the Mayor of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini and representatives of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination.
In this multilateral meeting held in the Municipality of Gjakova, a memorandum of cooperation was signed which aims to develop mutual co-operation in the field of cultural heritage, respectively the definition of the principles of cooperation and obligations of the parties within the "Restoration Project of Mejtep Ruzhdije in Gjakova".

This memorandum was signed based on the provisions of the "Protocol between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on Cooperation and Development and the Status of the Coordination and Coordination Agency Coordination Office Program Status", signed on February 02 2010 in Ankara.

After signing this memorandum, Deputy Minister Burbuqe Bakija-Deva, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, thanked TIKA for the investments it is doing in Kosovo. "The signing of this memorandum is just a continuation of our cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports with TIKA, which once again on be-half of the Ministry we thank for the investments it has made in all fields, in particular for monuments of cultural heritage ". She also stated that the obligations of the Ministry are concerned especially with the compilation of the documentation and the project.

"The Regional Cultural Heritage Cen-ter in Gjakova will be involved as in providing documentation, as well as in providing the necessary permits for completing the documentation, and will also be involved in overseeing this project. We hope that this project will also contribute to the development of cultural tourism through the restora-tion of cultural heritage sites", Deputy Minister Bakija-Deva said.

Meanwhile, TIKA coordi-nator, Hasan Burak Ceran, was delighted to sign the memorandum, evaluating this as a very valuable project. "Within the projects that we as TIKA are implementing in Kosovo, the preservation of cultural heritage and investments in cultural heritage occupy a special place in our projects. We conside this object has a special importance and after restoration it will be a very active building where civil society dealing with art and culture will use this facility", he said.

On the other hand, the mayor of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini, has considered that this is an important moment because it is a worthwhile in-vestment.

Mayor Gjini said that "Turkish TIKA and the Ministry of Culture have some very valuable investments that are flowing in Gjakova. Today I am delighted because this project will be completely incorporable in our plan for the Old Bazaar and the Kren River, will be a project that will not be hidden from the public eye but will be fully exposed as it should be". Speaking about the purpose of investing in this cultural facility, Gjini said that "the purpose of this cultural facility is to be a cultural center where all local organizations that will deal exclusively with culture and art will be accommodat-ed".
