Ismail Kadare has been awarded the international prize "Albanian Literature"

At a prestigious ceremony organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, today has been awarded today the International Prize "Albanian Literature" to the great Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, which the laureate received by the Minister Kujtim Shala.

Ismail Kadare, after receiving the award, said that every writer would like an organization of such and felt very honored to receive this award.

"I am really honored and happy to receive this award and believe me that this prize is worth to me. I am happy when I think that I am receiving this award in the library, because the latter are "kingdom of readers. The writers live by cause of libraries and readers "said Kadare, adding that" the Albanian nation now has readers and reading is more useful and brighter by the local side. Moreover, when reading has been an inseparable fate of the Albanian language”.

The university professor and member of the Council of Book, Osman Gashi, said that Ismail Kadare is the writer that has unveiled so deeply, completely and comprehensively basic postulates of national identity in the literal sense of the word.

"By giving this award to our great writer Ismail Kadare, we not only honor him and his extraordinary work, but also honor ourselves, Kosovo and all the army of passionate people about his art," said Gashi.

Meanwhile, the director of the National Library of Kosovo "Pjeter Bogdani" Fazli Gajraku said that this is an exciting ceremony because it is organized for a great writer on a book hearth such as the library.

"Now this library, this country is free where all the books and writings can enter, where all the books are can also can be read. In these nearly two decades it has come the time that in the history of Kosovo it must have a privileged, respectable and pleasant place for you and your publications. There are so great writers of great books in this library but for the readers of Kosovo, Kadare is a writer of heart. Kadare is the author whose bond has never been disconnected", he said.

On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, spoke Ndue Ukaj, saying that the work of Ismail Kadare has overcome the Albanian borders, adding that Kadare is the most representative author of literature.

"Obviously Ismail Kadare is in metropoles and with a unique literary and cultural dedication has done a tremendous job for the promotion of knowledge and language of Albanian literature in various big cities of the world becoming one of the world's best writers . He, with the power of his literary art has made that the Albanian literature to enter in the art of world literature, where all great titans such as Ismail Kadare enter “ he said.

According to regulations approved by MCYS, International Prize "Albanian Literature" shall be rewarded with a financial value of 10 thousand Euros.
